Associate of Science
Earning a degree in interior design from Hesser College could help you launch
an exciting new career. Our interior design program includes the training and opportunity
to design several interior environments. You will be presented with the principles
of space planning, material selection, drafting, and presentation. In addition,
our program includes education in the creative use of color, lighting, style, and
fabrics. Technical design capabilities can be enhanced through the use of computer-aided
design software.
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are awarded an associate of
science degree.

Program Outcomes
The interior design program is designed to prepare graduates to meet the following
outcomes:
Acquire a working knowledge of the elements and principles of design in order
to integrate
the concepts into the creative design process
Execute technical construction documents and freehand drawings that satisfy clients’
program needs
Analyze designs to assure that the plans are functional, safe, aesthetically appropriate,
and meet the public health, safety, and welfare requirements, including code, accessibility,
environmental, and sustainability guidelines
Specify appropriate furnishings, equipment, materials, and millwork; execute supporting
layout
and detail drawings
Perform contract administration tasks to manage construction schedules, costs,
contract
conformance, design intent, installation, and post-occupancy evaluations
Communicate effectively with individuals in the allied fields through technical
writing, graphic
presentation, and oral presentation
Prepare contract documents that adhere to regional building and fire codes and
other applicable
regulatory jurisdictions
